About Shotblasting

Shotblasting is a works process where metal and in particular steel components are cleaned by way of undertaking a surface blasting using abrasive materials.

The process can use a wide range of blasting media ranging from crushed walnut shells through to (iron) steel particles, the latter being the most common used for cleaning rust, dirt, old paint, and existing coatings from steel components and structures.

Architectural, engineering, and structural steelwork nearly always specifies that steel "shot" is used for this process, with SA2.5 being the level of surface cleanliness specified as the UK industry standard.

Brightstar Shotblasting and Coatings (serving all areas of South Yorkshire, and in particular Rotherham and Sheffield) mainly carries this out by way of using G24 grade chilled iron blasting media. When carried out this usually results in a surface profile of 50 to 75 microns and is very effective at removing rust, dirt, and ingrained grime from most steel components.

Of course many other media grades and types are available, if you require a particular type or specification of blasting media - please ask us for a no obligation price quotation and information to suit.

Equipment Used For Shotblasting

At our South Yorkshire industrial unit we have a wide range of equipment and resources available to us in order to carry out the shotblasting of all types of materials and steelwork.

This includes shotblasting rooms and enclosures as well as smaller blast cabinets and stations.

Whatever your needs are for steel shotblasting in Rotherham or Sheffield (as well as catering for customers in nearby Barnsley, Chesterfield, Dinnington, Doncaster, Dronfield, Hull, Leeds, and Retford) we are confident that our industrial unit can meet your expectations when it comes to heavy duty shotblasting and spray painting services.

Rotherham Shotblasting and Spray Coating Services

As well as catering for the many engineering and steel fabrication businesses that are located in Sheffield in South Yorkshire, Brightstar also undertake a comprehensive range of services for companies and organisations that are situated in nearby Rotherham.

With our local business premises being in such a short distance from Rotherham it is no surprise that we get asked to carry out our range of shot-blasting and spray painting (coating) services from clients that are based in Rotherham.

The M1 motorway and local A and B roads provide a fast route from Rotherham straight through to us here at Brightstar Shotblasting and Coatings.

If your travelling from a central area in Rotherham one of the fastest routes is to go via Meadowbank and Meadowhall Road straight through to Sheffield via Attercliffe or Darnall in Sheffield.
