Powered Access Equipment Hire

Find a local company that offers the hire of powered access equipment:

When you need to work safely at heights you usually only have several options, 1 is to erect and work off an access tower or scaffold platform, or 2, use an item of powered access equipment.

With building and construction sites as well as existing structures, health and safety is a paramount nowadays. This is without taking the work in-hand into account at this stage!

At the earliest opportunity a safe method of working should be evaluated - and on completion the decision should be made to choose the right access equipment for the job, as well as the one that allows the safest method of working at heights.

Powered Access Equipment is one option that is commonly chosen, partly because of the wide range of powered access equipment and platforms that are now available for hire by the corporate or trade user.

In years gone by it was common for the trade to work off ladders, step ladders, and scaffolding - but this has changed dramatically over the last 10 years in the UK.

Battery, diesel, and electric powered scissor lifts are all regularly used for carrying out installation work as well as ongoing maintenance and repairs to buildings, external and internal structures, and large items of machinery. The same goes for articulated booms, cherry pickers, and access platforms.

Examples of powered access equipment:

19ft Platform Height Battery Powered Narrow Scissor Lift

This item of powered access equipment is commonly referred to as a 19ES. When you choose to hire this particular item of equipment you may be supplied with a Genie GS1932, a JLG 1930ES, or a Skyjack SJ3219.

There are others that are supplied throughout the UK but these three are the most common. These scissor lifts all offer a 19ft platform height which typically equates to a working height of around 25ft (7.62m). Their narrow width of approximately 2ft 8" gives them great flexibility when used indoors on buildings such as car showrooms, sports centres, retail shopping centres, offices, and in hospitals, colleges and school buildings.

26ft Platform Height Battery Powered Narrow Scissor Lift

This item of powered access equipment is commonly referred to as a 26NS. When you choose to hire this particular item of powered access equipment you may be supplied with a Genie GS2632, a JLG 2630ES, or a Skyjack SJ3226.

As with the smaller 19ft version, there are others that are supplied for rental throughout the UK but these three are the most common. These scissor lifts all offer a 26ft platform height which typically equates to a working height of around 32ft (9.92m). Their narrow width of approximately 2ft 8" still gives them great flexibility when used indoors on buildings and for gaining access to large items of machinery and structures.

The greater working height capacity of a 26NS allows safe access to high roof voids in buildings for carrying out installation work, as well as for the repairing of electrical and heating / ventilation equipment. The 26NS is also popular for use by decorators when repainting of the building is required too.

32ft Platform Height Battery Powered Scissor Lift

This item of powered access equipment is commonly referred to as a 32ES. When you choose to hire this particular item of powered access equipment you may be supplied with a Genie GS3246, a JLG 3246ES, or a Skyjack SJ4632.

Others are supplied for rental throughout the UK by local powered access equipment hire companies but these three brands and models are what we feel are the most common. These battery (rechargeable) operated scissor lifts all offer a 32ft platform height which typically equates to a working height of around 38ft (11.68m) for the operator.

The greater working height capacity of a 32ES allows the user safe access to greater heights than the smaller 19ft and 26ft versions of scissor lift. With a greater width dimension (around 3ft 10") a 32ES can also be slightly more stable in use than the smaller versions.

40ft Platform Height Battery Powered Narrow Width Scissor Lift

This item of powered access equipment is commonly referred to as a 40ES. When you choose to hire this item of powered access equipment you may be supplied with a Haulotte Compact or a JLG 40ES machine.

Others are supplied for powered access equipment rental throughout the UK by local powered access equipment hire companies but these two brands and models are what we feel are the most common. These battery (rechargeable) operated scissor lifts all offer a 40ft platform height which typically equates to a working height of around 45ft (13.8m) for the operator / user.

50ft Platform Height Battery Powered Narrow Width Scissor Lift

This item of powered access equipment is commonly referred to as a 50ES. When you choose to hire this item of powered access equipment in the UK you may be supplied with a Holland Lift 165 or a JLG 153-12 machine.

These high capacity battery (rechargeable) operated scissor lifts all offer a 50ft platform height which typically gives a working height of around 56ft (17m) for the operator / user. The typical width is still classed as narrow being a dimension of approximately 3ft 11" allowing use in confined spaces in buildings and structures.
