Kelham Island Pubs

BEST KELHAM ISLAND PUBS TO VISIT

Kelham Island Pubs

There are a large number of pubs, bars, and wine bars at Kelham Island that are worth visiting. This up and coming area in Sheffield is one of the most visited locations for people of all ages that want to experience the Real Ale Experience that can be enjoyed from some of it's select pubs and other drinking establishments.

Around this small area in Sheffield you will find a great selection of local Kelham Island Pubs including ones such as Bar Kelham, The Fat Cat, the Kelham Island Tavern, Church, Stew and Oyster, The Ship Inn, Harlequin, and Riverside

This area is a great location for going out drinking-in with the best pubs offering a massive range of drinks for you to enjoy including craft ales, local and regionally brewed beers, middle of the range lagers as well as Continental ones such as Budweiser, Corona, Cruz Campo, and Peroni.

Locally brewed ales and beers are easy to find with the amount of Kelham Island Pubs that you can visit here. The Green Ln area in particular is a good stretch of Kelham to have a walk down, where you can maybe ultimately stop for a local beer at the famous Fat Cat Pub.

Other pubs here that cater mainly for people that are looking for a "real ale" or a "real beer" is the Harlequin and the Ship Inn.

Around these three traditional (and without being rude, very old fashioned pubs) you can also enjoy the selection of other pubs including well worthy of a mention; Bar Kelham, the Stew and Oyster, and nearer to the Shalesmoor area, the Riverside. The latter is a great pub to visit on a hot summers day when you can sit outside the pub facing the river.

On a cold Autumn or Winters day you might prefer to sit inside one of the lovely contemporary (and almost gastro type pubs) such as Bar Kelham, Kelham Kitchen, and Stew and Oyster.

These three Kelham Island Pubs are all slightly different from one another as you would expect. The Kelham Kitchen is the smallest of the three and has more of a cafe atmosphere than a pub / bar, it does though serve some great drinks (not cheap drinks though) with it's lovely choice of wines and Prosecco.

Stew and Oyster is a large venue, with a lot of it's space dedicated to eating and dining, and as far as contemporary Kelham Island restaurants go it is a nice place to visit and eat at.

As you can guess from it's name, it serves on it's menu a selection of stews as well as oysters.

Bar Kelham is a lovely modern place to visit in Kelham, and has something that appeals to nearly everyone. Inside the venue is quite spacious and the bar is stocked well with some great premium brands of quality drinks. Want to visit a pub / late bar in Kelham that has a good chilled out atmosphere and that has great music?  Maybe this one is for you?

Getting to Kelham Island

This location is just a short distance from the City Centre of Sheffield and can be easily reached either by walking or by taking a short taxi ride.

If you are stopping at one of the many hotels in Sheffield's city Centre such as the Premier Inn, Jurys Inn, the Mercure St Pauls, Leopold Hotel, or a different one, a taxi to this location should cost you in the region of around just £5.00 or so.

A little further out in Sheffield, say from Crookes, Hunters Bar, Ecclesall Road, Fulwood, and Hillsborough, expect to pay in the region of £7.00 to £8.00 pounds.

If your travelling in from say Beighton, Charnock, Frecheville, Halfway, Mosborough, Norton, Norton Lees, Sothall, or Totley, you can expect a taxi fare to be around the £10.00 mark.  Late on in the evening add a couple of more pounds onto these costs and you should have a good idea on what it will cost you to travel into Kelham Island and back by a city taxi.

Getting to here by Tram

You can also get to the area by way of the Sheffield Super Tram. The destination stop that you need to get off at is the stop at Shalesmoor. This is on the blue route, so be sure to get on a tram with a blue destination marker on it. From the City Centre the Cathedral stop is the main one to get on the tram. After exiting the tram the nearest Kelham Island pubs and bars that you can head to is The Ship Inn.

If there is just a small group in your party, or you are out as a couple this venue will be fine, but for larger parties the small venue size can mean you will struggle for a seat or table to sit at during busy periods. A nice bar though and well worthy of a visit.
